United players were not impressed

Ed Woodward, the general manager of the English football club Manchester United, met the team’s players at a short meeting at the club’s training area yesterday to explain to them the new super league that the club is a member of.

The Daily Mail reports that the United players, led by captain Harry Maguire, did not like what Woodward had to say and how the planned competition had been promoted.

They are said to have expressed dissatisfaction with the news of the division’s establishment through the media and that football manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær had to sit unprepared for answers at a press conference after the team’s game against Burnley on Sunday. News of the league arrived during the game.

The English Premier League is ready to take all necessary measures to prevent the plans for a European Premier League from becoming a reality.

This is stated in a statement from the league which was issued after a meeting with the fourteen members of the league who are not members of the super league.

It says that the fourteen clubs have all as one man rejected ideas about the super-league with great energy and determination.

“The Premier League is looking at all possible ways to stop its progress, as well as getting the parties involved in this to respect our rules.

“The league will continue to work with key players, such as supporters’ groups, the government, UEFA, the English Football Association, the English League Cup, professional footballers’ associations and football managers’ associations to protect the sport’s interests and appeal to the clubs involved to immediately withdraw from the Premier League.” in the statement.

It is The Athletic that reports this, but it was intended that Woodward would retire from the English club this summer.

However, he has decided to step aside and it can be concluded that this is probably due to plans for a European Premier League that has not been well received in the football community.

Earlier this week, news arrived that twelve of Europe’s biggest teams were planning to withdraw from UEFA’s European competitions and create their own divisions.

The idea has aroused great anger among football fans, players and coaches.

Earlier tonight, news arrived that Chelsea and Manchester City would not participate in the Premier League and now Woodward has resigned, but he met with United players this morning about the planned Premier League and it did not go well in the English team.
