Class B West All-Stars

Vince Gallo, who has guided Schalmont to the state semifinals, has been named the Most Valuable Player of the Class B West Division.

Schalmont, which won the West Division title for the second consecutive year, took 10 spots on the all-league first team.

Sean Schellenger and J.J. Murphy (Schalmont), Adam Biron and Justin Salvione (Johnstown), Cody Menge (Broadalbin-Perth), and Korey White (Hudson Falls) were each named to the first-team at two positions.

Section 2 Class D All-Stars

Versatile Mico De Los Santos of Rensselaer heads the Section 2 Class D all-star team, which was announced recently.

De Los Santos, who ran, passed, caught and kicked the ball for the sectional champion Rams, was named the class' Most Valuable Player.

Other top awards went to Caleb Meroski of Lake George (Offensive Most Valuable Player) and Nate Butler of Rensselaer (Defensive Most Valuable Player).  Rensselaer's Joel Preston was named Coach of the Year.

NORTH EDGES SOUTH TO RECORD THIRD STRAIGHT SENIOR GAME VICTORY

COLONIE -- Pat Wilson of Salem kicked a 25-yard field goal and an extra point as the North defeated the South, 10-7, in the annual Section II Exceptional Seniors football game Tuesday night at Christian Brothers Academy.  Over 100 Section II Seniors from over 50 playing schools participated on a beautiful fall night.

Wilson's field goal gave North a 10-0 lead in the second quarter. He booted an extra point after Mohonasen's Tahle Teabout scored on a 10-yard run in the first quarter.

Teabout led all rushers in the game with 62 yards on 17 carries. Lake George's Caleb Meroski added 45 yards on 11 rushes for the North, and Shawn Leary of Glens Falls ran for 28 yards on three carries.

The North's Chad McCloskey of Gloversville completed nine of 17 passes for 96 yards. Corinth standout Jordon Charbonneau caught two passes for 22 yards.

The South's lone score came with 2:40 left in the game on Hudson quarterback Talib Barksdale's 5-yard touchdown pass to Steve Kent of Schenectady.  The South team was held to 82 yards rushing and under 200 yards of total offense while the North racked up 300 yards.  Hudson.  The North also recorded 4 sacks on the night from Zach Bourdeau (Corinth), Walter Foster (Granville), John Verra (Niskayuna) shared with Jared VanVranken (Gloversville) and Anthony Mushaw (Scotia).
