For LaSalle Institute and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, playing in the New York State regionals is becoming an almost annual thing. For Watervliet and Rensselaer, its something they used to do quite often, but it's been a while since they've been there. And, for Hudson Falls, it's a little of both.
LaSalle Institute (8-2) will make its third regional appearance in four years Saturday night at 7:30, taking on New Rochelle (Section 1) at Dietz Stadium in Kingston in Class AA. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (10-0) will play in the regionals for the second time in three years when they meet Indian River (Section 10) in Watertown High School Friday night at 7:00 in Class A.
Watervliet (8-2) played in four regional games in the 1990s (winning all four) , but will be making its first appearance since 1997 when the Cannoneers face Saranac Lake (Section 7) at Plattsburgh High School, Saturday afternoon at 1 in Class C. Rensselaer (9-1) played five regional games from 1991-95 but hasn't been there since, and will face Moriah (Section 7) at Hudson Falls High School Saturday afternoon at 1 in Class D.
Hudson Falls (9-1) played in the regionals three times from 1990 to 2000, and will take on Beekmantown (Section 7) Saturday afternoon 1 at Glens Falls High School in Class B.
The winners of this weekend's games will play in the New York State semifinals at Dietz Stadium in Kingston. The state championships are scheduled for the following weekend at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
