2010 Schedules

The 2010 Section 2 football season will open on Friday, September 3, and run through Saturday, October 16.
2010 schedules by date and 2010 schedules by teams available HERE.

Here are the 2010 Class and Division setups (*-moved up in class, **-moved down in class):

Class AA (Empire Division) -- Albany, Ballston Spa, Bethlehem, Christian Brothers Academy, Guilderland, Saratoga Springs, Shenendehowa
Class AA (Liberty Division) -- Colonie, Columbia, LaSalle Institute, *Niskayuna, Schenectady, Shaker, *Troy

Class A (Northwest Division) -- Amsterdam, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Glens Falls, Gloversville, Queensbury, South Glens Falls
Class A (Southeast Division) -- Averill Park, Bishop Maginn, *Lansingburgh, Mohonasen, Scotia-Glenville

Class B (Reinfurt Division) -- Albany Academy, *Cairo-Durham, Cohoes, Hudson, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk
Class B (West Division) -- Broadalbin-Perth, Cobleskill-Richmondville, Hudson Falls, Johnstown, Schalmont, *Schuylerville
Class B (Independent) -- Ichabod Crane

Class C (North Division) -- Corinth, Granville, *Greenwich, Hoosic Valley, Hoosick Falls, *Lake George, Mechanicville, Stillwater, Tamarac
Class C (South Division) -- Canajoharie, Catholic Central, Chatham, Coxsackie-Athens, Fonda-Fultonville, Taconic Hills, Voorheesville, Watervliet

Class D -- Bishop Gibbons, **Cambridge, Fort Edward, Rensselaer, Salem, Saratoga Catholic, Warrensburg, Whitehall

 
Upstate/Downstate Football Classic

The Upstate/Downstate Football Classic!

The goal of the New York State High School Football Classic, as established by the New York State High School Football Coaches Association, is to promote and showcase the outstanding football talent in the state of New York. The New York State High School Football Classic will serve to unite the 650 high school football programs throughout the State, and over 20,000 football coaches (head coaches and assistants), as well as the 80,000 student athletes in New York State that compete in scholastic football.

BH Trio Tops Class A All-State Choices

Tyler Paluba, Zach Morton and Jacob Meyers of two-time state championship runner-up Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake topped the Section 2 players named to the New York State Sportswriters Association's Class A All-State teams.

Paluba, a defensive back, was the lone local player chosen to the first team, while defensive ends Morton and Meyers were selected for the second team.

Troy running back Jordan Canzeri and defensive lineman David Jabour were tabbed for the third team, along with offensive lineman John Acors of Burnt Hills.  Chosen for the fourth team were Burnt Hills offensive end Keaton Flint and placekicker Evan Nusbaum, Troy running back Shatiek Lewis and defensive lineman Mark Leisenfelder, and Gloversville quarterback Chad McCloskey.

Quarterback Pat McMahon and offensive end/defensive back D.J, Nettles of state champion Sweet Home (Section 6) shared the Class A Player of the Year award.

DiNovo, Lane Head Class AA All-State Teams

Offensive end Lou DiNovo of LaSalle Institute and offensive lineman Austin Lane of Shenendehowa head the list of 10 Section 2 players named to the New York State Sportswriters Association Class AA All-State football teams.

DiNovo and Lane were named to the second team.

Six Section 2 players were named to the third team: all-purpose Tony DeLoatch, placekicker Nick Daley, and linebacker Eric Hayden of Saratoga Springs; offensive lineman Nolan Filke and linebacker Tyler Washington of LaSalle Institute; and offensive lineman Nick Gallo of Ballston Spa.  Named to the fourth team were running back Bronson Greene of Shenendehowa, and defensive back Mark Seager of Ballston Spa.

Anthony Brunetti, a running back from Holy Trinity (Long Island), and Dan Scalo, a quarterback from Monroe-Woodbury (Section 9), shared the Class AA Player of the Year honors
